About TEDx 

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At our TEDxAbbotsford event, live speakers will spark deep discussion and connection. individual TEDx events, including ours, are volunteer-led and self-organized.

 

About TEDxAbbotford

This will be TEDxAbbotsford's third event. We have steadily grown over the last few years and are very excited about this year's event! TEDxAbbotsford was started by a family of Abbotsfordian (and a swissite) who wanted to make a difference in our community.

Speaker Team Lead

5 - 12 Hours/Week

 

Timeline:

March-April is busy

May-August is general maintenance

September-October are busy

 

 

Position Summary:

The Speaker Team Lead is responsible for providing leadership and direction to their speaker team while being in communication with the other teams involved. This role is also responsible for curating the great minds that speak at the event, as well as prepping and managing confirmed speakers. 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership to a team

  • Communicating with other teams 

  • Curating speakers 

  • Curating talent

  • Interviewing speakers

  • Confirming speakers

  • Gathering speaker info - Bio, photos, slides etc.

  • Keeping speakers on a timeline

  • Connecting speakers with coaches

  • Managing speaker needs

  • Attending a monthly meeting with the entire TEDxTeam

  • An estimated 5-12 hours of work/week depending on the timeline

 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be proactive, have excellent management skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in management and leadership

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Can stick to a timeline

  • Creative
